Justifying Power and Decisions in the 21. Century

Rethinking Legitimacy from a PPE perspective

Important Facts

What

Our goal: We are looking forward to bringing together students of different backgrounds and disciplines who share a keen interest in exploring a topic of timeless import: legitimacy. The participants will not only be given the opportunity to present their research but also have their papers peer-reviewed ahead of the conference.

Conference structure: The three-day conference will be held in English. The conference proceedings will be kicked off with a keynote speech. Thereafter, students will split into parallel subject-specific groups with 20 min for presentations plus Q&A. Plenary sessions at the end of the day will be used to give participants content summaries of the other working sessions. Although this is foremost a student-led conference, we are also keen to involve (visiting) tutors and practitioners. A creative space will give room for developing and exchanging thoughts and ideas in progress.

Who

Keynote Speakers

Presenters

Why be a presenter? Presenters benefit from in-depth feedback our scientific committee will give on their paper prior to the conference. And there’s more: Every presenter has the chance to get her/his article published in our conference volume! In addition, we are also giving out an award for best presentation – certificate and press release included.

We welcome advanced Bachelor students, Master students as well as PhD candidates from different academic backgrounds (politics, economics and philosophy, law and sociology).

Peer reviewers

Don’t have a suitable paper at hand? No worries! You can still be part of our peer reviewer team and become an expert on legitimacy even before the conference kicks off. It’s the perfect way to get prepared!

At the end of February, all peer reviewers will receive a preparatory email by the scientific committee with topical and organisational information on the peer review process. (Blind) Peer reviewing takes place from mid-March to mid-April. As a standard, each participant in the process will be emailed one manuscript, except she/he would like to review more than one paper.

We welcome advanced Bachelor students, Master students as well as PhD candidates from different academic backgrounds (politics, economics and philosophy, law and sociology).

Participants

All participants will have the rare opportunity to discuss with invited experts and likeminded fellow students all those questions which have been on their mind, and which no article or book seem to be able to answer. And at best, you will leave the conference with even more questions!

We welcome all students wanting to increase their awareness of the current theoretical and empirical questions in the field.

Attendance fee

The attendance fee for each presenter, peer-reviewer, and particpant is 35€.
